Philippe Oechslin received a Ph.D. degree from the EPFL. He has worked in research at Bell Labs and at the University College of London. He is now part-time lecturer in network security at the EPFL. In addition, Philippe is founder and CEO of Objectif Sécurité, a company specialized in auditing, consulting, training and R & D in the field of information security.

This work is a novel addition to the literature in that it provides, for each subject, a short summary of the main principles followed by a series of exercises, resulting in a self-contained book that provides a solid foundation in computer security to students.
